Counselling and Psychotherapy explained Often referred to as 'talking therapies', the terms 'counselling' or 'psychotherapy' describe the support given in a private setting to explore personal difficulties. The expression 'psychotherapy' is applied to consultations that provide an in-depth look at core issues that create distress. Counselling can be of great benefit at times when an individual feels the need to look at personal anxiety and distress. It is normal to want to talk but it's not always easy to find the right person willing to listen. Qualified counsellors and therapists are trained to listen and to offer support to people in the endeavour to understand issues. And, although they do not give advice or offer solutions, there is a wealth of experience and specialized knowledge they can draw upon. It is through the process of therapy that individuals find a way to resolve their difficulties. Talking face to face to a professional, in confidence, outside the social circle of family and friends, creates a unique opportunity to explore difficulties, share personal concerns, and start getting much more from your life. The Consulting Room is based in Hungerford, West Berkshire ... having come this far to resolve your concerns is a good decision ...
